Issue/Introduction

I need to download the agent. Share the ways on how agents can be obtained from the system and using the Customer Support Portal.

Resolution

You can obtain and download DX APM agent packages using two primary methods: downloading directly from the DX APM system interface (which allows for pre-configuration) or retrieving the base packages from the Broadcom Customer Support Portal.

Method 1: Download an Agent Package Directly from the System (DXO2)

Downloading agents directly from the DX APM interface is recommended, as it allows you to configure extensions and connection properties prior to deployment.

  1. Log in to your DX Application Performance Management environment.

  2. From the navigation menu, go to Agents and select Download Agent.

  3. Choose the appropriate category for the agent you need:

    • Applications: For monitoring applications and application servers.

      • Download without configuration: Click the specific agent to start the download immediately.

      • Download with configuration: Hover over the application agent and click the Settings (gear) icon. From here, you can select necessary extensions (such as adding an embedded Agent Controller or Browser Agent), enter any required configurations, and then click Download.

    • Infrastructure: For monitoring hardware and environment metrics.

      • Click Infrastructure Agent or Unified Infrastructure Agent. Select the specific agent/extension, provide a configuration name, apply any needed property settings, and click Download.

    • Cloud Native: For downloading Universal Monitoring Agent (UMA) artifacts or specific cloud services (e.g., AWS Lambda).

  4. Once downloaded, extract and deploy the package to your target application server. (Note: If you use APM Command Center, you can save your package configurations in the UI to reuse and deploy them to subsequent servers later.)

Method 2: Download an Agent Package from the Customer Support Portal

If you prefer to download base agent binaries or require specific legacy versions outside of the active SaaS UI, you can use the Broadcom portal.

  1. Navigate to the Broadcom Customer Support Portal at support.broadcom.com.

  2. Log in with your enterprise credentials.

  3. Go to the Software dropdown menu and select My Downloads.

  4. In the search bar, type your product name (e.g., DX Application Performance Management).

  5. Select your current product release/version.

  6. Browse or search the results list for the required Agent Packages (e.g., DX APM Java Agent, Infrastructure Agent, etc.).

  7. Click the download icon next to the package to save the archive to your local machine.
