Issue/Introduction

After upgrading vCenter Server from 7.0 to 8.0, the default alarm definition "ESXi Host Certificate Status" is no longer visible in the alarm list. Instead, a new alarm named "ESXi Host Certificate is about to expire KB 385107" appears. Customers may be concerned whether the monitoring logic has changed or if the previous alarm was deprecated.

Environment

VMware vCenter Server 8.0

Cause

Starting with vCenter Server 8.0 Update 3h, the default alarm was renamed to provide more descriptive status information and a direct reference to KB 385107 was embedded into the title to facilitate faster troubleshooting for administrators.

Resolution

The change is limited to the UI display name (Title). The underlying alarm rules and trigger conditions (e.g., "Host Certificate expiration is imminent" and "Host Certificate was updated") maintain full functional parity with vCenter Server 7.0 U3. No changes were made to the core monitoring logic; therefore, existing operations remain unaffected.
