Issue/Introduction

  • When attempting to assign an IPv6 address to a virtual machine within a Dual Stack configured vApp network, the operation completes successfully, but the guest virtual machine receives no IP allocation.
  • The vApp network summary view omits the gateway IPv6 CIDR, though the CIDR remains visible within the specific object properties.
  • Deploying a new test vApp network with identical specifications functions correctly

Environment

VMware Cloud Director 10.6.1.1

TCP 5.1

Cause

Desynchronization of database metadata and logical network object corruption prevents proper UI display and restricts IP provisioning to the virtual machine.

Resolution

  1. Coordinate a maintenance window with the affected tenant, noting that network connectivity will be temporarily disrupted for attached virtual machines.

  2. Document all existing configuration parameters for the affected vApp network.

  3. Disconnect all virtual machines from the affected vApp network.

  4. Delete the corrupted vApp network object.

  5. Recreate the vApp network utilizing the previously documented Dual Stack configuration parameters.

  6. Reconnect the virtual machines to the newly created vApp network.

  7. Verify successful IPv6 address assignment to the virtual machines.
