Configure monitoring of ODF storage utilization in DX Unified Infrastructure Management

Issue/Introduction

You have a requirement to configure ODF (OpenShift Data Foundation) storage utilization monitoring

Cause

The openshift probe in DX Unified Infrastructure Management (UIM) does not currently support fetching custom metrics such as ODF storage utilization or specific API Server metrics directly.

Resolution

Fetching custom metrics like ODF storage utilization directly in DX UIM from the openshift probe is not possible at this time. To monitor these metrics, you can consider the following options:

1. Utilize DX Operational Observability (DXO2): You ingest or scrape Prometheus metrics using the Universal Monitoring Agent (UMA) route. DXO2 allows you to fetch custom metrics like ODF by collecting them from the Prometheus instance used in your OpenShift environment.

2. Integrate UIM with DXO2: DXO2 integrates with DX UIM via the oi_connector probe, which allows you to send UIM metrics to DXO2 for unified visibility.

3. Submit an Enhancement Request: If you require this functionality directly within the DX UIM openshift probe, you must submit an Enhancement Request (ER) through the Product Ideation Process.
