Issue/Introduction

When using the Automic Web Interface (AWI) version 24.4.1 or higher, users may encounter the following symptoms:

  • A Broadcom product registration splash screen appears during login.
  • After entering an email address and completing the prompt, the registration screen reappears at the next login session.
  • Skipping the prompt only suppresses it for the current session; it persists for all subsequent logins.
  • This occurs specifically in environments where the Automation Engine (AE) is version 24.4.0 or lower (including all releases of version 21.0).

Environment

AWI is on 24.4.1 or later

Automation Engine is on 24.4.0 or earlier (including 21.0)

Cause

The product registration and telemetry feature was introduced in AWI version 24.4.1. This feature requires the AWI to write registration data to a specific object (UC_TELEMETRY_SETTINGS) within the Automation Engine.

Automation Engine versions 24.4.0 and older (including version 21.x) do not contain the backend code necessary to support these telemetry updates. Consequently, while the AWI displays the registration prompt, it cannot successfully save the data to the AE database. This causes the AWI to treat the instance as unregistered every time a user logs in

Resolution

This is an unsupported configuration. To resolve the persistent prompt, the AWI and AE versions must be aligned to a supported release combination.

Option 1: Downgrade AWI

If you must remain on Automation Engine version 21.x, downgrade the Automic Web Interface to version 21.0.x (matching your AE service pack). Version 21.x of the AWI does not include the mandatory registration splash screen.

Option 2: Upgrade Automation Engine

Upgrade the Automation Engine to version 24.4.1 or higher to match your AWI. These versions include the necessary backend support to store registration and telemetry data, allowing the splash screen to be cleared permanently after the first successful registration.
