Issue/Introduction

How does UIM discovery determine the Serial Number of Devices?

On Devices with Windows Operating System, we use the following command to get the Serial Number

>>wmic baseboard get serialnumber

 

For SNMP Devices we query the ENTITY-MIB for the entPhysicalSerialNum Attribute.

 

Discovery_server / Discovery_agent versions starting from 8.32 now determines the Serial Number of the first chassis to match the way

Spectrum determines the Serial Number.
