Chargeback generates organization bill but does not detail costs for vApps or VMs

Issue/Introduction

• The total organization bill is calculated correctly in VMware Aria Operations.
• The bill does not display granular price details for individual vApps or Virtual Machines (VMs).

Environment

Aria Operations 8.18.x

Cause

This issue typically occurs because the Pricing policy type configured in the Aria Operations policy is set to Allocation Pool or Reservation Pool. These Pricing policy types only calculate price at the Organization VDC level.

Resolution

1. Log in to the Aria Operations UI with an administrative user
2. Navigate to Operations > Configurations > Policy Definition
3. Select the policy with the Chargeback pricing details and click Edit Policy
4. Set the Pricing policy type to Pay as you go and click Save
5. Allow 24 hours for the pricing calculation to run
