VMware vSphere ESXi

Issue/Introduction

After patching the ESXi host and viewing its image profile, it shows standard, not the expected custom image from a third party vendor.

(Updated) ESXi-<patch version>-<build number>-standard

Environment

vCenter 8.0 and higher

ESXi 8.0 and higher

ESXi host recently patched with the Broadcom VMware standard ISO through vSphere Lifecycle Manager (vLCM)

Previous patches on this ESXi host used custom images or ISOs from a third party vendor.

Cause

Patching an ESXi host with a standard Broadcom VMware ESXi ISO will change the image profile's name to ESXi-patch version-build number-standard.

Resolution

There is no functionality impact.

The image's profile name change has no effect on the VIBs installed on the patched ESXi host. Third party custom VIBs will remain functional on the ESXi host.

Ensure that it was intended to use a Broadcom VMware standard ESXi ISO for patching the ESXi host.
