Issue/Introduction

  • During a silent installation or upgrade of DX NetOps Portal, the process stops and prompts for a password (e.g., MySQL root or netqos password).
  • The installer does not accept any known passwords, even if they are verified as correct.
  • The issue may occur specifically when using the Unified Automation (UA) installer or automated scripts.

Environment

  • DX NetOps Performance Management / Portal
  • Versions: 25.4.x (specifically 25.4.4 through 25.4.7)
  • Operating System: RHEL / Linux environments where /tmp is mounted with noexec permissions.

Cause

This is caused by a product defect (DE191460). The InstallAnywhere (IA) wrapper fails to propagate the IATEMPDIR environment variable to the custom Java code in silent mode. This forces the installer to attempt to use the default /tmp directory. If /tmp is mounted with the noexec flag, the scripts cannot execute, causing the installer to fail back to a manual password prompt that fails to validate.

Resolution

This issue is resolved in DX NetOps 25.4.8.
