Issue/Introduction

When trying to commission a newly installed ESXi host on the SDDC Manager a red banner error is observed -

host_fqdn: Host MUST have only one Standard Switch. Host has 2 Standard Switches.

You can remove the validation failed host and proceed with commissioning for the remaining hosts.

It has been confirmed that an additional VSS had been configured on the ESXi host.

Environment

VCF 9.0.2

Cause

Having more than one VSS is not documented as being supported when commissioning an ESXi host in VCF, per this documentation -

https://techdocs.broadcom.com/us/en/vmware-cis/vcf/vcf-9-0-and-later/9-0/building-your-private-cloud-infrastructure/host-management/commission-hosts.html

Resolution

VCF expects only one VSS before the VSS to distributed switch (vDS) migration occurs.

Remove/disable the additional VSS and try to commission the ESXi host again.

The ESXi host is then expected to be successfully commissioned.
