Issue/Introduction

Question:
Is it possible to poll devices without a poll time ping request being sent?

Environment:
eHealth 6.3.2.11 on windows 2008

Answer:

The NH_POLL_PING_DISABLED environment variable is the only one which will prevent eHealth from attempting to first ping a device before polling it.

It is a global environment variable so when set it is applicable to all elements in the configuration. There is no difference between this functioning across platforms.

The only difference is where the variable is set.

On windows, it is set in the Windows Environment Variables UI (under system properties).

On Linux and Unix it will be set in one of the $NH_HOME/nethealthrc* files.

Additional Information:

Network restrictions that would always prevent a successful ping .
