vSAN ReadyNode cannot be commissioned to SDDC Manager. Error "Failed to validate vSAN HCL status"

Issue/Introduction

• vSAN ReadyNode ESXi host commission in SDDC Manager fails with error "Failed to validate vSAN HCL status"
  
  
• vSAN HCL DB on SDDC Manager is up to date.
  
  
• Fails to validate NVMe SSD disk on vSAN ESA yet the vSAN HCL does show support for this NVMe device with vSAN ESA.

Environment

VCF 5.2.x

VMware vSphere ESXi 8.x

Cause

The NVMe disk shares identical PCI IDs with other disks (which are not supported for vSAN ESA).

The hardware precheck incorrectly maps the physical disks to the other HCL entry and hence reports that disks are not supported.

Resolution

Upgrade ESXi hosts to 8.0U3g or above
