GPU compute utilization and Memory utilization metrics are incorrect
The memory usage of GPU is equal to what is assigned
Environment
VMware vCenter Server 8.0.X
VMware vCenter Server 7.0.X
Cause
This is expected behaviour
Resolution
The vGPU metrics in VCF 9.0 are providing the insights into memory utilization in the Guest
Additional Information
The memory usage and reserved values are expected.
They do not provide granularity into the Guest's workload usage
From the Host point of view, a vGPU is always using the memory that its profile is assigned. It is a partition that is created on PowerOn of the VM
"With the vSphere Client in VCF 9.0, we also get deeper insight into the levels of consumption at the vGPU level, through a new feature called “DirectPath Profiles”, where we show you a summary of the Utilization screen that you get in the vSphere Client at VCF 9.0 to help you understand what is consumed, available and not usable for any vGPU profile. Note: For the environments on version prior to 9.0.X we recommend using the vGPU Management Pack for Aria Operations.
Please discuss with NVIDIA if their use case is satisfied by that solution as there is a need for aggregation between samples for the Compute Utilization (which would need functionality from NVIDIA's driver to provide us the data in that form).
