vCenter upgrade 8.x to 9.x failing on host profile check.

Issue/Introduction

Upgrading VCF 5.2.2 to 9.0.2 the following error in the logs:

Cause

Based on the error in the logs the issue was a 7.x Host Profile showing.

"The host profiles are of version Host Profile - <vCenter_name> which is lower than version 8.0.0. Cannot continue with upgrade process since the host profiles are incompatible with the target vCenter version."

Resolution

Go to vSphere; Policies and Profiles

     

Then choose Host Profiles

     

Then choose the vCenter that the error shows.  Then click on Actions and Delete
