Issue/Introduction

  • Precheck performed from 4.2* to 9.0*
  • Precheck failed with the following error:
Found data inconsistencies: MP Objects found in DB before promotion for tables : IpfixDfwConfig, IpfixCollectorConfig, please perform Manager to Policy promotion or delete the MP objects and retry the prechecks. Delete any Bridge firewall section/rule if they exist and then retry the prechecks. For more details, please refer to - https://knowledge.broadcom.com/external/article/385606
  • When you try to "start object promotion" from the NSX manager under the System--> General settings --> Manager objects promotion, you see the following error:
<IPFix Profile Name> Resource type: IPFIX_DFW_CONFIG is dependent on resource type: LOGICAL_SWITCH with id: ########-####-####-####-############. Please make sure that the dependent objects are promoted first or are not created by policy.
  • Copy the UUID from the error and search for it in the NSX Manager to verify the configuration.
  • After that, log in to vRNI and confirm that the settings align with the current configuration.

Environment

NSX 4.2.x

Resolution

  • In the VMware Aria Operations for Networks (vRNI) portal, navigate to "Accounts and Data Sources".
  • Edit the "NSX configuration".
  • Under "Additional Configuration", uncheck "Enable DFW IPFIX" and save the changes.
  • Validate that the FW IPFIX collector configuration is successfully removed in the NSX UI.
  • Re-run the VCF upgrade pre-check.
  • Upon successful completion of the VCF upgrade, return to the VMware Aria Operations for Networks portal and re-enable "Enable DFW IPFIX"
