Issue/Introduction

  • When attempting to create a network in the VMware Cloud Director UI, the action fails due to a system error. The following error message is generated in the UI during the network creation process:

[ ########-####-####-####-############ ] Bad Request: Error occurred in the backing network provider: Invalid transport zone path /infra/sites/default/enforcement-points/default/transport-zones/[Transport Zone UUID] specified., error code 500161

  • Transport Zone from NSX contains a different UUID/Path
    • Confirm from NSX UI - System -> Configuration -> Fabric -> Transport Zones
    • Locate Transport Zone Name, Click the Vertical Ellipses menu and select "Copy Path to Clipboard". And compare value to above path used by Cloud Director.

Environment

  • VMware Cloud Director 10.6.1

  • NSX

Cause

This issue occurs because the system specifies an invalid transport zone path. The Network Pool is configured with an invalid Transport Zone path (/infra/sites/default/enforcement-points/default/transport-zones/[Transport Zone UUID]). Validation in NSX confirms that the specified Transport Zone path does not match the actual path in NSX, rendering the specified path invalid.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, utilize an alternate, valid Network Pool to create the network.

  1. Identify or create a valid Network Pool backed by an active NSX Transport Zone.

  2. Utilize this alternate Network Pool during the network creation process to avoid the path mismatch error.

Additional Information
