Issue/Introduction

During the integration of a workload domain vCenter Server into VCF Operations (VCFOps), the import task fails with the exact error message: "Failed to resolve vCenter IP". The failure occurs during the "Add Workload Domain" vCenter selection phase.

Forward and reverse DNS lookups for both the vCenter Server and SDDC Manager complete successfully.

Environment

VMware Cloud Foundation 9.0

VCF Operations

Cause

The vCenter Server integration within VCF Operations was initially configured using an IP address instead of a Fully Qualified Domain Name (FQDN).

Resolution

Resolution:

  • Log in to the VCF Operations user interface.
  • Navigate to the Data Sources / Integrations configuration page.
  • Locate and edit the existing vCenter Server cloud account.
  • Replace the configured IP address with the valid FQDN of the vCenter Server.
  • Save the configuration and validate the connection.
  • Retry the Add Workload Domain import task.
