Issue/Introduction

You observe the following error when configuring/setting up Virtual Machine(s) for Windows Server Failover Cluster (WSFC):

"Failure issuing call to Persistent Reservation .... The request could not be performed because of an I/O device error"

"Disk does not support SCSI-3 Persistent Reservations commands ....."

 

Environment

vSAN (All Versions)

Cause

Configuration issue in regards to the disk of the affected Virtual Machine(s)

 

Resolution

Ensure that the Cluster disks of the affected Virtual Machine are configured with Disk Mode "Independent – Persistent"
