Registering and licensing a redeployed VCF Operations instance with the VCF Business Services Console

Issue/Introduction

• VCF Operations has been redeployed in a VCF 9.x environment
• In VCF Business Services console > License Management > VCF Operations Registrations, old VCF Operations instance is still in a Licensed State
• In VCF Operations UI> License management > Registrations, you have the below message:

  VCF Operations is not registered

 

Environment

• VCF Operations 9.x
• VMware Cloud Foundation 9.x

Resolution

To apply the license after redeploying VCF Operations, the old instance must be deactivated so that the license is reclaimed, and a new registration must be performed:

1. Deactivate the old VCF Operation Instance:
   1. Log in to the VCF Business Services Console at vcf.broadcom.com.
   2. Click the vertical ellipsis next to VCF Operations instance you want to deactivate
   3. Click Deactivate.
   4. In the Deactivate a VCF Operations Instance dialog box, click Deactivate
2. Perform New Registration as per Registering VCF Operations with the VCF Business Services console

Note: During the registration the licenses from the old instance will be available to add to the New instance

Licensing Overview -- Active licenses regularly submit usage reports. A usage report must be submitted at least once every 180 days. A license is considered expired if subscription ends, or if usage goes unreported and license is not refreshed. Once considered expired, you have up to 90 days to apply a new license before restrictions are enforced.
