Unable to delete disabled storage policy in Cloud Director

Issue/Introduction

When attempting to delete a disabled storage policy in Cloud Director the error message is returned for:
[ ################# ] Storage policy "<Storage Policy Name>" cannot be deleted since it is currently in use

Upon further investigation the error message in vcloud-container-debug may be:
2026-04-28 04:33:35,597 | ERROR    | vapplifecycle-activity-pool-64 | JDBCExceptionReporter          | ERROR: update or delete on table "vdc_logical_resource" violates foreign key constraint "fk_libr_stor_pro2vdc_logi_reso" on table "library_storage_profiles"
  Detail: Key (id)=(#####################) is still referenced from table "library_storage_profiles".

Environment

VMware Cloud Director 10.6.x

Cause

There are stale references to catalogs that may or may not be deleted in the database.

Resolution

Clear catalog items that may reference the storage profile from the Org VDC. This may require migrating templates and media files to a new catalog. If the issue persists take a fresh backup of Cloud Director following Backup and Restore of Your VMware Cloud Director Appliance and open a support request with Broadcom VCF support referencing this knowledge article.
