Login to vCenter server is failing due to high SWAP value

Issue/Introduction

• Logging into vCenter fails
  
  
• When logging into the vCenter Server Appliance via SSH and checking TOP from CLI, a high amount of SWAP is found:
  
  
  
  
• The VAPI service logs - /var/log/vmware/vapi-endpoint/endpoint.log also have the following errors:
  
  

Cause

The large amount of SWAP is causing services to not respond including those responsible for authentication.

Resolution

In order to clear the high SWAP, you need to reboot the vCenter Server Appliance. After the reboot, the SWAP comes down and the services are able to respond.
