Issue/Introduction

  • When attempting to download an upgrade bundle via the SDDC Manager UI, the task fails.

  • The SDDC Manager UI displays the error: "Downloading Bundle Failed".

  • Network connectivity between the SDDC Manager and the Broadcom Depot is verified as working.

Environment

  • VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF)
  • SDDC Manager 9.0.x

Cause

Following the migration to the Broadcom Support Portal, software downloads are strictly enforced based on account entitlements. The Broadcom account that was used to generate the currently configured Depot Token in SDDC Manager does not have the correct permissions to access the specific software bundle.

While the token successfully authenticates the SDDC Manager to the depot portal, the backend systems deny access to the actual software payload because the account is not linked to a Site ID with active, valid entitlements for VCF and the requested product version.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, you must replace the existing Depot Token with a new token generated from a Broadcom account that possesses the correct software entitlements.

Step 1: Obtain a Valid Depot Token

  1. Log in to the Broadcom Support Portal using an account that is explicitly linked to your organization's Site ID and has active entitlements for VMware Cloud Foundation.

  2. Verify that this account has permission to download the required NSX software versions manually.

  3. Generate a new Depot Token from the portal.

Step 2: Update the Token in SDDC Manager

  1. Log in to the SDDC Manager web interface as an administrator.

  2. Navigate to Administration > Repository Settings.

  3. In the VMware Depot section, click Edit or Update Authentication.

  4. Enter the new Depot Token generated from the correctly entitled Broadcom account and save the configuration.

  5. Wait for SDDC Manager to successfully authenticate and validate the new token.

Step 3: Resume the Download

  1. Navigate to Lifecycle Management > Bundle Management.

  2. Locate the required product upgrade bundle.

  3. Click Download to restart the process. The bundle should now download successfully.
