Issue/Introduction

Confirmation is needed on whether Identity Manager supports OAuth 2.0 for SMTP authentication or if it remains restricted to Basic Authentication.

Environment

• Product: Identity Manager
• Versions: 14.5, 15.x
• Platform: RHEL 7.9 (or other supported operating systems)

Resolution

OAuth 2.0 for SMTP is not currently a certified or supported feature in Identity Manager 14.5 or v15. The product is limited to Basic Authentication for the SMTP transport layer.

While Identity Manager supports OpenID Connect (OIDC) for user authentication, this capability does not extend to the SMTP transport.
