Issue/Introduction

  • ESXi host crashes with LINT1/NMI (motherboard nonmaskable interrupt) or ApeiHESTNmiHandler has diagnosed a PCI fatal error referencing PCI address 0000:0b:00.0.

Environment

VMware vSphere ESXi 9.x

Cause

Physical hardware failure or improper seating of the Broadcom BCM57414 network adapter.

Resolution

  • Remove and firmly reinstall the adapter.
  • Perform the manufacturer’s hardware diagnostics (such as Dell ePSA).
  • Update firmware and drivers to maintain compatibility.
