Issue/Introduction

When using or reviewing the Unix Agent binaries for version 24.4.4, specifically the template file ucxjxxx.ori.ini, the agent may fail to start, or configuration errors may occur. Upon inspection of the .ini file, several lines of descriptive text regarding the utf8 and UC_HOST_CODE parameters are found to be missing the required semicolon (;) comment prefix.

Environment

Product: Automic Automation Engine

Component: Unix/Linux Agent

Version: 24.4.4

Cause

DE184803

Resolution

If you are currently on version 24.4.4 and need to use the ucxjxxx.ori.ini file as a base for your configuration:

  1. Open the ucxjxxx.ori.ini file in a text editor (e.g., vi or nano).

  2. Locate the section discussing the utf8 parameter and UC_HOST_CODE.

  3. Manually add a semicolon (;) to the beginning of every line that contains descriptive text but is not a functional parameter.

  4. Save the file and proceed with your agent configuration.

This issue is officially resolved in the following version:

  • Automic Automation Engine 24.4.5 (Tentatively planned for July 2026)

  • Automic Automation Engine 26.1.0
