Upgrading the SCOM Connector for SOI from version 4.7.3 to 4.9.0

Issue/Introduction

The SCOM Connector does not have an upgrade path for existing installations.  How can the existing information for the uuid and the entry in the ConnectorConfiguration Table in the SAMStore DB be retained when replacing the old with the new version?

Environment

• SOI 4.3

Resolution

The below steps describe the process to upgrade to the IFW SCOM connector version 4.9.0 and retain the existing server details from the 4.7.3 configuration.  The key will be to use the same details as noted in step 10.

Please follow the below steps to migrate IFW SCOM connector-4.7.3 to 4.9.0 on same machine.

1. Stop the IFW and event management services
2. Take a backup of SOI folder where SCOM-connector-4.7.3 installed.
3. Uninstall the SCOM connector and IFW service.
4. If there were issues uninstalling the above services, then follow steps 5,6 and 7 to manually uninstall, otherwise, go to step 8
   
   
5. Delete services using command prompt
   sc delete CAEVENTMGMT
   sc delete "CA SAM Integration Services"
6. Delete the below registry from windows registry editor.
   \HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\CA\SAM
7. Backup and delete below registry (Zero G Registry) hidden folder.
   C:\Program Files (x86)\Zero G Registry\.com.zerog.registry.xml
   
   
8. Install the SOI 4.3 Integration service
9. Install the IFW SCOM connector
10. Provide the same SCOM server details and same Proxy Transport Port which you provided during older SCOM-connector-4.7.3 installation.
    Note: you can verify SCOM server details from 4.7.3 connector configuration.
11. Start the IFW services.
12. Connector will be online from SOI admin page and will use the old connector entry found in the database for the new connector.
