Issue/Introduction

When upgrading a standalone Spectrum OneClick instance (without SpectroSERVER) on Windows Server, the pre-installation phase reports multiple fatal errors in the logs.

The $SPECROOT/Install-Tools/LOGS/<version>_<date>/preinst.<timestamp> logs contain the following errors:

Starting pre-installation Install module Install-Tools/IPRE/*.plCan't open perl script "Install-Tools/preinst_ie.pl": No such file or directoryEnding pre-installation Install module Install-Tools/IPRE/*.pl------------------------------------------------------------------------awk: fatal: cannot open file `Install-Tools/IDX/CD/EvFormat_en_US.i' for reading (No such file or directory)awk: fatal: cannot open file `Install-Tools/IDX/CD/EvFormat_ja_JP.i' for reading (No such file or directory)awk: fatal: cannot open file `Install-Tools/IDX/CD/EvFormat_zh_CN.i' for reading (No such file or directory)awk: fatal: cannot open file `Install-Tools/IDX/CD/EvFormat_zh_TW.i' for reading (No such file or directory)

Environment

This issue is specifically reproducible when upgrading from version 25.4.3 to 25.4.4, 25.4.5, or 25.4.6.

Cause

This is a legacy product issue where specific installer scripts and awk commands fail to locate temporary files during the upgrade of a standalone OneClick application. The missing files or scripts are part of a pre-installation module that does not impact the core product binaries or configuration.

Resolution

Broadcom Engineering has confirmed that these error messages are cosmetic and do not affect product functionality. If the upgrade completes and the OneClick Console, Web Client, and Java Web applications are operational, these errors can be safely ignored.

This issue is being tracked under defect DE187494 and is scheduled to be addressed in a future release of DX NetOps Spectrum.
