Issue/Introduction

  • Inter-Site Service Router (SR) BGP neighborships fail to establish between edge nodes in an NSX Federation Environment.

  • BGP neighbors remain stuck in “Connect” state indefinitely:

  • Login to the corresponding Edge node as user admin and run the following commands.

    • Command output (get bgp neighbor summary under inter_sr_vrf) shows “Connect never” under State Up/Down time:

      • edge01> set debug

      • edge01> vrf internal

      • edge01(inter_sr_vrf)> get bgp neighbor summary

  • Log messages similar to the below may appear in /var/log/syslog on the Edge Node:

    • Skip to announce (########-####-####-####-1c301cd71b07, 169.254.xx.xx) due to lport doesn't have linked port

  • The UUID of the internal routing LS port (Tier0 VRF > get interfaces) appears as:

    • 00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000

  • This prevents inter-site routing and BGP adjacency formation

Environment

VMware NSX

Cause

  • The inter-site logical switch is configured with an overlay Transport Zone (TZ) that is not associated with any transport nodes.
  • The above prevents the logical switch from being realized causing BGP neighborship to fail.

Resolution

This issue cannot be resolved through standard UI or API configuration changes.

  • Engage Broadcom Support.

  • Request assistance for direct Corfu database modification to correct the Transport Zone mismatch.

  • Reference the following support article to open a case: Creating and Managing Broadcom Support Cases
