Issue/Introduction

LU19858 addresses an issue where the hook for IEFAB4A2 fails to install at Allocate startup which was introduced after the IBM PTFs UJ97902, UJ97903 or UJ97904.  

SYMPTOMS:

1) Message VAM0018 UNABLE TO INSTALL IEFAB4A2 HOOK, RC= 00000020 in
   the Allocate started task log.
2) Loss of Deferred Stop NOT CATLGD 2 functionality.

IMPACT:

1) Loss of Stop NOT CATLGD 2 functionality if the &DEFER_SNC2_U
variable has been set to 'Y' in the SPACE environment.
2) IEF377I NOT CATLGD2 2 message when allocating new non-SMS non-VSAM
   data set.

 

Resolution

The IBM RSU Level might be incorrect and need to check on the IBM PTFs UJ97902, UJ97903 or UJ97904. Please apply the LU19858 to address the issue.

Additional Information

1) The PTF cover letter states (in the IMPACT section) that "Loss of Stop NOT CATLGD 2 functionality if the &DEFER_SNC2_U variable has been set to 'Y' in the SPACE environment." The KB article could detail further that the &DEFER_SNC2_U variable is applicable only when the &STOP_NOT_CATLG2 variable is set to 'U' in the SPACE environment. 

 

2) Correct. No impact if the &STOP_NOT_CATLG2 variable is set to 'D' or 'R' in the SPACE environment.

 

3) 'D' means 'DELETE'.  If the &STOP_NOT_CATLG2 variable is set to 'D' in the SPACE environment, then the existing data set is deleted.
