Nagios monitoring error for vCenter Server

Issue/Introduction

In the Nagios monitoring page for vCenter Server, the following error is observed:

CHECK_ESX3.PL CRITICAL - SOAP Fault: ----------- Fault string: This operation is restricted by the administrator - 'vpxd.stats.maxQueryMetrics'. Contact your system administrator. Fault detail: RestrictedByAdministratorFault

Environment

VMware vCenter Server 8.x

Cause

This is a result of a default limit on queries to the vCenter Server.

Resolution

Increase or disable the maxQueryMetrics and maxQuerySize parameters by following the instructions in the following KB:

Performance charts are empty and displays the error: Request processing is restricted by administrator
