Issue/Introduction

Customers attempting to align their upgrade cycles may need to run Tanzu Cloud Service Broker (CSB) for Azure v1.11.1 on Tanzu Application Service (TAS) 10.2 (BigBang).

Environment

  • Tanzu Cloud Service Broker for Azure: v1.11.1
  • Tanzu Application Service for VMs: v10.2 (BigBang)

Cause

Tanzu Cloud Service Broker for Azure v1.11.1 was released in Jan. 2025, while TAS 10.2 followed in June 2025. Consequently, these specific versions were not formally validated together during their respective release cycles.

  • Technical Viability: While not explicitly tested as a pair, there are no known architectural blockers preventing CSB 1.11.1 from operating on TAS 10.2.
  • End of Support (EOS): The standard EOS for CSB Azure 1.11.1 is June 30, 2026. Customers remaining on this version to avoid the breaking changes introduced in v1.12.0 (such as the csb-azure-mssql-db-failover-group service offering changes) should be aware of this date.
  • Support Extensions: For customers unable to upgrade to v1.12.x before the EOS date, an extended support arrangement may be required to maintain a supported configuration.

Resolution

  1. Validation: It is highly recommended that customers perform thorough verification in a non-production environment to confirm stability and functionality for their specific use cases.
  2. Upgrade Planning: Monitor the upcoming EOS dates. Plan to move to a newer, tested version of CSB as soon as the transition away from the legacy service offerings is feasible.
  3. Known Issues: Note that CSB 1.11.1 contains a known issue regarding the deletion of csb-azure-mssql-fog-run-failover service instances. Review article https://knowledge.broadcom.com/external/article/435375 for details.
