Issue/Introduction

A customer reported a failure in the Active Directory failover mechanism where the C++ Connector Server (CCS) continued to retry a Primary Domain Controller (DC) that had been marked as "Down" (LDAP error 81). Despite having ADS_FAILOVER and .dns files correctly configured, the failover to backup DCs did not occur. This resulted in eventual crash of the C++ Connector service with an access violation in W2Knamespace.dll (exception code 0xc000005).

Secondary issues you might see is:

ERROR  - Error in search: javax.naming.ServiceUnavailableException: [LDAP: error code 52 - Server Down]

Environment

  • Product: CA Identity Manager / Identity Suite
  • Component: C++ Connector Server (CCS) / Active Directory (ADS) Connector
  • Version: 14.5, 14.5 SP1, 14.5 CHF1

Resolution

Our Sustained Engineering team is currently researching a permanent resolution for the issue.

In the meantime, please implement a scheduled restart of the C++ Connector Server service. This will clear the retry state and prevent further service
