Tanzu Hub Helm Chart Deployment Not Supported

Issue/Introduction

Customers may inquire whether Tanzu Hub can be deployed using a Helm chart onto an existing VKS (vSphere Kubernetes Service) cluster or any other alternative methods, rather than using the standard Tanzu Operations Manager tile-based deployment model. The benefits of this include reducing operational overhead of provisioning OpsMan (networking, firewall rules, maintenance, etc) or general preference.

Cause

This is a by-design product constraint. Tanzu Hub is architecturally designed to deploy via OpsMan. The product does not support:

• Helm-based deployment onto a BYO or customer-managed Kubernetes cluster
• Direct deployment into a VKS Supervisor namespace

Resolution
