Custom Collections cannot select interfaces in Performance Management 25.4.2 and later

Issue/Introduction

After upgrading Performance Management to version 25.4.2 and later, users may find they are unable to select interfaces in Custom Collections.
The only devices are re able to be added.

Cause

This behavior is the result of a fix for non-device items (like interfaces), as these might have appeared or been selectable, but this functionality has been restricted to align with the intended use of Collection groups

.Starting from version 25.4.2, the system enforces a rule that Custom Collections are only intended to contain devices for the purpose of applying monitoring profiles

 

Resolution

Custom Collections are designed to contain devices only. If you need to recreate or manage group structures, consider the following:

1. Reconfigure Rules: Ensure that Custom Collection rules are focused on device selection rather than sub-rules for interfaces.
2. API Usage: For programmatic group creation or bulk updates to group structures, use the Groups Web Service API.
