"Network connectivity lost" alarm triggers when migrating the ESXi host VMkernel Adapter from a Standard Switch to a Distributed Switch

Issue/Introduction

• The "Network connectivity lost" alarm is observed triggering for the target ESXi host in the vSphere Client.
  
• The VMkernel Adapter migration is complete, and there are no communication issues with the network of the target ESXi host.

Environment

VMware vSphere ESXi 8.0

Cause

The migration process involves disconnecting the VMkernel Adapter from the vSS and reconnecting it to a vDS port group. This switchover causes a momentary network interruption, which can trigger this alert.

Resolution

The alarm can be cleared by navigating to [Actions] > [Reset To Green]. If the alarm does not trigger again and there are no communication issues, no further action is required.
