VCF Operations

Issue/Introduction

  • After deleting and redeploying a VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) Operations 9.x instance the new deployment fails to register with the VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) Business Console.
  • The registration status in the VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) Operations Admin UI remains stuck in 'Pending Activation'.
  •  Attempts to register the new instance in Connected Mode fail or hang indefinitely.
  • Reactivating a previously deactivated registration results in a persistent 'Pending' status.

Environment

VCF Operations 9.x

Cause

  • This issue occurs because a stale registration record for the previous VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) instance remains in the VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) Business Console.
  • It prevents a new instance from completing registration if a legacy record with a conflicting hostname or UUID is still active, as the system may enforce a limit on the number of allowed instances for VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) Operations.

Resolution

Deactivate the old VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) Operations instance

    1. In the VCF Operations instance, navigate to License Management Registration.
    2. In the connected mode pane, click Start Registration.
    3. The VCF Business Services console opens in a new tab.
    4. Log in to the VCF Business Services console by using your Broadcom Support Portal credentials.
    5. Select the Site ID to which you want to register this VCF Operations instance
    6. Click on the three vertical dots next to the old VCF Operations instance
    7. Click on Deactivate.

Register newly deployed VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) Operations
