Issue/Introduction

  • When the Online Depot is configured to download binaries in VCF Fleet Management, attempts to download a VCF 9.0 component from the UI path (VCF Operations >> Fleet Management >> Lifecycle >> Binary Management) fails with the below error

    Error Code: LCMCOMMON92001
Exception encountered when downloading the binary
Premature end of Content-Length delimited message body
    (expected:<Total_Size>; received: <Downloaded_size>)

  • You will see the following error reported in the /var/log/vrlcm/vmware_vrlcm.log file on the Fleet Management appliance:

ERROR vrlcm[####] [pool-#-thread-#] [c.v.v.l.d.c.t.DownloadFromBroadcomDepot]  -- Exception encountered when downloading the binary: Premature end of Content-Length delimited message body (expected: <Total_Size>; received: <Downloaded_size>)

Environment

VCF Operations 9.x
VCF Fleet Management 9.x

Cause

This issue occurs due to an unstable or low-bandwidth internet connection, or an intermediary proxy terminating the connection prior to the download completing.

Resolution

To resolve this environmental issue,

  • Ensure that stable internet access is established from the Fleet Management appliance to the Broadcom depot.
  • Once confirmed, retry downloading the VCF Automation 9.0.2 package, or submit the request again with a stable network connection.
