Issue/Introduction

Nodes show a degraded status because there are no uplinks assigned to the Virtual Distributed Switch (VDS) configured for NSX. When you attempt to edit the node profile in use on the degraded clusters to utilize a different VDS with active uplinks, the action fails and generates the following validation error:

Validation Errors
9560: Transport Zone
TransportZone/<UUID> cannot be relocated from HostSwitch <HostSwitch-UUID-1> to HostS

Environment

  • VMware NSX

  • VMware vCenter Server

Cause

The system validation prevents a Transport Zone from being relocated from one HostSwitch to another in a single transaction.

Resolution

To resolve the degraded node state and successfully apply the Transport Node Policy, create new Transport Zones rather than modifying the existing assignment in a single transaction:

  1. Create a new Transport Zone for the primary vCenter Server (e.g., vCenter A).

  2. Create or utilize a separate Transport Zone for secondary environments (e.g., vCenter B).

  3. Apply the Transport Node Policy to the respective nodes.

Once the new Transport Zones are applied, the Transport Node Policy will process successfully.
