Issue/Introduction

  • HCX Bulk Migration fails during the initial synchronization phase.

  • The migration workflow terminates with a generic "Initial sync failed Error running request" message in the user interface.

Environment

VMware HCX

Cause

The Hybrid Cloud Services (HCX) Manager is encountering a 403 Access Denied error when attempting to communicate with remote services via Proxy.

Resolution

  • It is imperative to disable or whitelist the sites in the proxy configuration on both the HCX Connector and HCX Cloud systems to ensure unhindered communication.

  • Failed migration tasks must be cancelled to clear the current stuck state in the database.

  • A new mobility group should be created to initiate a fresh migration attempt after the proxy settings are removed.

  • Refer to the internal documentation regarding environment prerequisites to ensure all required ports are open without proxy interception.

  • Refer to the Configure a Proxy Server

Additional Information

  • Documentation regarding similar behavior can be found in KB 321566.

  • Ensure that the management network can reach the required endpoints directly as per the documented port requirements.
