Issue/Introduction

In a standalone VMware Aria Automation Orchestrator environment, you may notice that PowerShell hosts do not appear under the powershell plugin Inventory tab. Because the inventory is empty, workflows cannot find or connect to these hosts, causing the workflow engine to hang or stop responding.

Environment

VMware Aria Automation Orchestrator (Standalone)  -- 8.18.1

Cause

This is caused by a technical lock (synchronization issue) within the PowerShell plugin's configuration service. If a single request to load the inventory becomes stuck, it blocks all other requests from finishing. This "queue" creates a bottleneck that prevents the plugin from displaying any hosts or processing workflow connections.

Resolution

Engineering has identified this behavior, and a permanent fix will be included in a future patch for VMware Aria Automation.

Temporary Workaround: If your UI is frozen, you can temporarily restore functionality by restarting the Orchestrator services. Please note that the issue may return until the official patch is applied.
