CA 11 MANT task receives IKJ56225I indicating PURGE file is already in use

Issue/Introduction

The CA 11 MANT task fails to complete and remains in an executing state.  The following messages occurs:

 IKJ56225I DATA SET CA11.PURGFILE ALREADY IN USE, TRY LATER IKJ56225I DATA SET IS ALLOCATED TO ANOTHER JOB OR USER

The message occurs even though MAINTTME=0 is configured on all LPARs except one.  There appear to be no other users accessing the dataset.

Resolution

  The message indicates that there is contention with the purge file GDG dataset.  To address this, check for any occurrence of the following message:

U11D-4300-0 SRC=1 CMD: START MANT   ( this indicates the command was issued via console or automations )

Disable any automation  (such as OPS/MVS or CA 7) that may be issuing a manual START MANT command while the automated CA 11 maintenance cycle is already active .
