Issue/Introduction

  • SDDC Manager UI displays the error: "Failed to fetch NSX information".

  • SDDC Manager API calls targeting the NSX-T manager fail.

  • SDDC Manager generates "Disconnected" alerts regarding the NSX-T manager.

Environment

  • VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) 5.2

  • SDDC Manager

  • NSX-T Data Center

Cause

An NSX-T Manager associated with the environment was decommissioned out-of-band (outside of native SDDC Manager workflows). Consequently, the SDDC Manager was not detached from the NSX-T manager during the decommissioning process.

The SDDC Manager's PostgreSQL platform database is out of sync and retains an orphaned record of the decommissioned NSX-T cluster.

The SDDC Manager services continuously attempt to manage the lifecycle and passwords of the non-existent appliance, triggering the disconnected alerts and UI/API errors.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, the orphaned NSX-T entry must be manually removed from the SDDC Manager database.
