Symptoms
Following an environment upgrade to VMware Cloud Director Availability (VCDA) version 4.7.3, management of Recovery Plans becomes unavailable through the integrated VCD-VCDA Plugin within Cloud Director.
Attempts to open existing Recovery Plans or initiate new ones via the Cloud Director interface are unresponsive or fail to load.
The recovery plan health status displays as non-functional, "Red," or "Unknown" within the integrated Cloud Director view.
Bypassing the integrated plugin and accessing the VCDA Management Portal directly allows identical Recovery Plan actions to execute successfully without error.
VMware Cloud Director Availability 4.7.3
This issue occurs due to an unsynchronized VMware Cloud Director (VCD) Service Endpoint.
During the upgrade process, the integration between the VCDA services and VCD may not automatically refresh. As a result, the Cloud Director UI plugin continues to rely on legacy metadata and previous UI components. This causes a version mismatch, severing communication with the upgraded 4.7.3 backend manager services. The operational disparity between the standalone VCDA portal and the integrated plugin isolates the issue to this extension registration.
To resolve the version mismatch and restore integrated functionality, a manual refresh of the VCD endpoint is required. This action initiates a forced re-registration of the extension, pushing the compatible 4.7.3 UI components into the Cloud Director environment.
Steps to resolve:
Authenticate to the VCDA Management Interface using provider-level credentials.
In the left navigation pane, navigate to Settings > Service Endpoints.
Locate and select the VMware Cloud Director (VCD) endpoint from the list.
Execute a Refresh or Edit action on the endpoint to force a reconnection. (Note: You may be required to re-enter the administrative credentials).
Monitor the recent tasks pane for the "Update VCD Extension" task and verify its successful completion.
Log out and re-authenticate to the Cloud Director UI.
Following the execution of these steps, the health status will revert to Green, and Recovery Plan management will be fully restored within the integrated plugin.
