Password Change Not Syncing for Admin Account on VCF Operations/Aria Operations

Issue/Introduction

After changing VCF Operations/Aria Operations Root and Admin from the GRUB menu following KB How to Reset the Root Password for VCF Operations you are unable to log into the Admin UI of Aria Operations due to an invalid credential error. 

Environment

VCF Operations/Aria Operations

Cause

The password was reset on the PhotonOS local user instead of the Application-level user. 

Resolution

Reset the Application-layer Admin account password:

1. SSH into the Aria Operations appliance as Root
2. Run the password reset script
   • $VMWARE_PYTHON_BIN $VCOPS_BASE/../vmware-vcopssuite/utilities/sliceConfiguration/bin/vcopsSetAdminPassword.py --reset
3. Enter in the new password you wish to set for the Admin account. 
4. Re-enter that same password to confirm.
5. Verify the new password is functional in the Admin GUI.
