Question

How to manually install and configure CA Business Intelligence (CABI) 4.1 ODBC driver on a remote workstation

Answer

A pre-requisite to install the CABI ODBC driver on a remote workstation is to have a CABI client tool component (i.e. Universe Designer, WEBI Rich client) already installed.

Please refer to the following instructions regarding the CABI 4.1 client tools install - https://docops.ca.com/ca-business-intelligence/4-1sp5/en/installing/cabi-installation-on-windows/how-to-install-cabi-4-1-sp5-client-tools-full

Once the CABI 4.1 client tools component has been installed, perform the following:

  • 1.  Run CA Business Intelligence Configuration program

  • Couple of notes:

1.  You do not have to provide a valid username/password for the CABI administrator.  Since we only want to install the CABI ODBC driver locally, there is no need to connect to the CANI server

2.  You must provide a different install location for the 32-bit and 64-bit ODBC driver.

3.  Click FINISH once the information has been completed to begin the install.

4.  Click CLOSE once the install is complete

5.  After the install is complete, a CA Service Desk Manager data source using the CABI ODBC driver is available under the System DSN tab of ODBC Data Sources.

  • 6.  Double click on the ODBC connection and click on Test Connect.
  • In the Username field enter the Service Desk's Privileged username.
  • In the Password field enter the password for Service Desk's Privileged user and click OK.

A message "Connection test was successful" will be displayed.
