Server Group Description displays as 'null' for a datacenter in VCF/Aria Operations Cost Drivers

Issue/Introduction

In VCF/Aria Operations, navigating to Configuration > Cost Drivers > Datacenter, the Server Group Description for one of the datacenters appears as 'null' in the name field.

Environment

• Aria Operations 8.18.x
• VCF Operations 9.0.x

Cause

This issue may occur due to a temporary inconsistency or delay in cost calculation data within VCF/Aria Operations, resulting in incomplete or missing metadata being displayed in the UI.

Resolution

Follow the steps mentioned below to resolve the issue:

1. Log in as admin to the VCF/Aria Operations UI: ( https://<VCF_OPS_FQDN_IP>/ui )
2. Expand the left panel, navigate to: Administration > Control Panel
3. Click on Cost Calculation
   
4. Run the cost calculation
   
   
   
5. Wait for the process to complete

Once the calculation finishes, refresh the Cost Drivers page and verify that the server group description is correctly populated.
