Issue/Introduction

vCenter upgrade is failing at the second stage pre-check

The vCenter to be upgraded is in linked mode with 1 or more other vCenter

No blocks to communication between the host and vCenters over port 443 

Upgrade logs are complaining about "VMDir Replication between partners is not working,..."

Environment

vCenter 7.x

Cause

There could be an old vCenter Node that was not correctly decomissioned

Resolution

1.  Check the replication partners of the vCenter:

     A.  SSH to the source vCenter and login

     B.   /usr/lib/vmware-vmdir/bin/vdcrepadmin -f showpartners -h PSC_FQDN -u administrator -w Administrator_Password

     C.  Check the results for a vCenter that was previously removed

2.  If an old node is found then use https://knowledge.broadcom.com/external/article?articleNumber=370062 to split and decomission the old node.
