Issue/Introduction

Running etautil commands do not return any operational details.

When checking etatrans log time-limit: XX is found where value is to short to return the query result.

Environment

All Identity Manager

Cause

etautil may timeout before a long running operation completes due to time-limit set on PS or IMPS level.

By default timeout for IMPM bin/etautil is not set so reffers to default 30 seconds, for PS bin/etautil it is set to 0 so it wont timeout.

You may check your registry timeout by checking value of etrust_timeout in registry we suggest by using:

<PS or IMPS>/bin/eta-env action=get name=etrust_timeout type=int

 

Resolution

Depending on type of search:

For command type (like etautil)

Do either:

<installation location of IMPM>\bin>eta-env action=set name=etrust_timeout value=<your value> type=int

OR manually for Windows IMPM

1) Open a command prompt.
2) Run regedit
3) Navigate to the following: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\ComputerAssociates\Identity Manager\Provisioning Manager
4) Select Edit - New - DWORD Value
5) Enter ETRUST_TIMEOUT as the name. Double click on it after adding and confirm that the Value data field is set to 0.

Note: ETRUST_TIMEOUT value of 0 disables etautl timeout. Instead it may be better to set some value (in seconds), which would allow long running operation to finish.

For Searches triggered from IMPM GUI or IM set search timeout in IMPM.

IMPM - File - Preferences - Search
