"Metrics are not available for this cluster" error seen when trying to monitor VKS cluster resources from vCenter UI

Issue/Introduction

The vCenter UI error showing "Metrics are not available for this cluster" when we check for cluster namespace--> resources--> services--> Monitor.

 

Environment

vSphere with Tanzu

vSphere Kubernetes Service

VMware Cloud Foundation 9.0.x

Cause

vSphere Kubernetes metric information cannot be viewed in vCenter. This data is displayed in VCF Operations, which requires both VCF Automation and vCenter to be added to VCF Operations for data collection. It is identified as a bug to display this monitor tab under LCI mode.

Resolution

VMware by Broadcom is aware of the issue and a fix for this will be considered in future release version for VCF9. 

Until a fix is available, users are advised to leverage the VCF Operations page for proactive cluster metric monitoring and health checks.
