How to deallocate a switch's unit control block (UCB) from a CA OPS/MVS Switch Operations Facility (SOF) when doing maintenance.

Answer: 
Issue the command similar to the example below:

F OPMOFSRV,REMOVE xxxx LOC Exec, where xxxx is the switch to be removed.

REMOVE Command—Closes a Switch
Use the REMOVE command to close and unallocate a switch. This allows the switch to be taken offline, or to be used by another system component. Existing port connectivity is not affected.

This command has the following syntax:
REMove switch
[GLObal | LOCal] [SYStem=sysspec]

  • switch
    Specifies the switch to be closed and unallocated.
